Posted Friday, November 3, 2006

Governor

(Topeka Capitol Journal) Sebelius won't pledge to serve full term: Gov. Kathleen Sebelius can't guarantee she will serve out a second four years as governor if she wins re-election next week. But the Topeka Democrat said she has every intention to be around for the duration of a second term.

Attorney General

(Salina Journal) Preachin' and politics: Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline defended his methods of fundraising and church involvement during a campaign stop in Salina with gubernatorial candidate Jim Barnett and other state Republican leaders.

(Wichita Eagle) Kline has recovered less money for consumers: Kansas consumers have recovered much less from their unfair business practice complaints during Phill Kline's three years as attorney general, state records show.

2nd District Congress

(Topeka Capital-Journal) Ryun camp tries to link Boyda to Kerry: Nancy Boyda wants nothing to do with the controversial comments of Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry. "She has a campaign to run here," said the Democrat's campaign manager and husband, Steve Boyda. But Rep. Jim Ryun, R-Kan., is making pains to tie his Democratic challenger to the hubbub. "Nancy Boyda never called on him to apologize," Ryun's campaign said in a statement Thursday.

1st District Congress

(49 ABC News) Moran's goal is keeping the needs of Kansans first: Republican Congressman Jerry Moran seeks another term in the House of Representatives. On his campaign platform are preserving agriculture in Kansas, fighting rising health care costs and making Kansas a leader in renewable energy. See story for a complete profile of Moran.

Election 2006

(Topeka Capital-Journal) Phone calls under fire:Sick of the negative campaigning in the attorney general's race? Don't answer the phone. Scores of automated phone calls have been coming to Kansas households during the past few days, blasting the candidates for attorney general. The calls are legal campaign tools that can be used by candidates and third-party groups looking to influence elections.
