WGA Nominations Announced

The Writers Guild of America has announced its nominees for the 2007 Writers Guild Television & Radio Awards. The winners will be announced in Beverly Hills on February 11.
TV's longest-running sitcom, The Simpsons, snagged four nominations. "The Italian Bob," "Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore," "Simpsons Christmas Stories," and "Girls Just Want to Have Sums" were nominated for outstanding animated episodes.
NBC's Thursday-night stablemates The Office and 30 Rock both received nods for best comedy series. Also nominated are the gone-but-not-forgotten Arrested Development and soon-to-return HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage.
In the new series category, NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip will duke it out with NBC's Heroes, 30 Rock, and Friday Night Lights. ABC's Ugly Betty is the only non-NBC show picked for this category.
Emmy winner 24 was nominated in the best drama category. The show will have stiff competition from ABC's Lost and Grey's Anatomy, and HBO's The Sopranos and Deadwood.
Lost's episode "Two For The Road" was also nominated for best episodic drama, along with "Election Day, Part II" for the West Wing; "Occupation/Precipice" for Battlestar Galactica; "The End of the Whole Mess" for Nightmares and Dreamscapes; "Pilot" for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and the "Pilot" for Big Love
In Comedy/Variety Penn & Teller's Bullshit! grabbed a nom, but will have stiff contenders against The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Real Time with Bill Maher, and SNL.
CW network wasn't completely left out. The network's Veronica Mars was nominated for best on-air promotion.
