Drive Cancelled
Posted Friday, April 27, 2007
I was hoping this wasn't going to happen, but here are 2 reports about Drive being cancelled.
From Variety:
Fox has impounded "Drive," steering the show off the network highway after four episodes.
Despite decent reviews, "Drive" quickly stalled, averaging just a 2.3 rating and 6 share among adults 18-49, and 5.6 million viewers overall.
Monday night's "Drive" didn't help matters, coming in fifth place for the hour (1.5/5) and driving "24" to record lows, dropping Fox to fourth for the night.
Having shoved a Denver boot on "Drive," Fox has now gassed up "House" repeats in the Monday 8 p.m. slot.
Net is still mulling whether to burn off the last two remaining segs of "Drive" on air, or stream the final segs online.
Fox revved up six segs of "Drive," which revolved around a group of people forced to take part in an illegal cross-country race. Nathan Fillion stars.
Tim Minear and Ben Queen created and exec produce "Drive," which comes from 20th Century Fox TV. Greg Yaitanes also exec produced.

Dang it! Drive has been plucked off Fox's Monday lineup. (And yet The Next Pussycat Doll is getting a second season! TV is many things, but fair ain't one of 'em...)
Studio sources tell me, "I’m hearing it is being pulled from Mondays—we have two remaining episodes that have been produced—waiting to hear if they will air (and where)." Four hours of the show had aired; six were in the can. No word yet on DVDs, but if you live in some far off place where Drive had yet to tour, you can read episode scripts over at TimMinear.net.
Update: I just got an email from a very highly placed source inside the show, who sadly tells me about the reports of Drive's cancellation: "Confirmed. Gone. No word on DVDs, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. You're sweet for supporting the show—it's greatly appreciated, for what it's worth." Hey, I'm keeping my hopes up, and you can't stop me! Sniffle.

Why does Fox always cancel the good shows they have? Do they have a vendetta against Tim Minear and Nathan Fillion? I mean they screwed over Firefly. Lets hopw Tim's contract is up soon so that he can go elsewhere and have an actual successfull show.
