Television is the new movies

Heroes 1.17 Company Man

Posted Monday, February 26, 2007

That was one hell of an episode! Heroes is still proving itself to be the best new thing on television. This week it took the form of Lost, meaning it was in real time, then flashbacks. That's right; we got flashbacks of Mr. Bennet's past. So I'll format this post like I normally do Lost, but I'm going to start with the flashbacks first. By the way we see Mr. Bennet without glasses until the final flashback. It was wierd.

15 Years Ago: We meet Mr. Bennet's boss, and it's non other than Eric Roberts. We also see Mr. Bennet get hired into the evil Organization XIII (which since they keep calling it "the organization", I will refer to it as Organization XIII), and get assigned his new partner, Claude. So we learn Claude worked for Organization XIII at one point. And they are telling their employees that they are keeping people "safe" and ignorant to the truth of what's happening to the human race.

14 Years Ago, Part 1: Mr. Bennet and Claude meet Eric Roberts, and HIRO'S DAD on the pigeon roof. No wonder Claude liked that roof so much, they probably did a lot of work there. And WTF!?!?! Hiro's dad works for Organization XIII?!?! He gives Mr. Bennet a baby Claire and tells him that if she starts manifesting powers to give her back, and not to get too close. Evidentially they "bagged" Fire Mommy earlier but they think she died. Something along those lines. I couldn't pay attention after freaking out from seeing Sulu working with the Organization. Oh yeah, and Hiro is sitting at a table playing a Game boy. With Sulu working for the organization, it makes me wonder. Is Hiro really Sulu's son? Or is it another Claire situation? Does Sulu know Hiro is manifesting powers? Is that why he wanted him to come back to Japan? If he isn't Hiro's real father, why didn't he turn him over to Organization XIII? Would he still turn him over (if he knew) if Hiro was his real son? So many questions!

14 Years Ago, Part 2: Mr. Bennet evidentially screwed up and Mrs. Bennet found his gun and such what. He talks to Eric Roberts, asking if she were in danger, and Eric says "Normally, but since we found this mute 10 year old Haitian you're off the hook." We then see the 10 year old Haitian walking in the house with a necklace of that symbol thingy. So Mr. Bennet has been wiping his wife's mind for 14 years. No wonder she has a bruise on her brain!

7 Years Ago: Claude and Mr. Bennet take a little trip to the bridge, so Mr. Bennet can kill him. Don't worry it's justified, at least by Organization XIII. Apparently Claude has been hiding someone with powers, and that's against the rules. The Organization acts like its treason or something. Mr. Bennet says that if Claude will tell him who he's hiding he won't kill him. Claude refuses, and despite Mr. Bennet's poor shooting manages to hit him once in the shoulder before Claude goes invisible and runs away.

3 Years Ago: Claire is helping Mr. Bennet try on glasses, and asking if she'll need glasses one day. Mr. Bennet says "How the hell am I supposed to know, you’re adopted." (of course not in those words) And Claire says, "Here try these on." And hands him his horned rimmed glasses.

Present Day: We start off right before where we left off. Ted and Matt break into the house and begin to steal Mr. Bennet's computer but the family comes home as they are doing so. So they decide to take them hostage for some answers. They go on for a bit about how Mr. Bennet abducts people and does things to them, then erases their minds. Claire thinks of the Haitian so the Matt says, "Yes, the Haitian." Claire goes off to try and call the cops, and Matt follows, and they have a conversation and Matt learns about her regeneration ability, and Claire thinks about Peter, and Matt says that Peter can do what he does, and Claire says that Peter can do what she does. Now she's beginning to wonder is Mr. Bennet made her this way. Back out in the living room Mr. Bennet tries to get a gun, but Ted snags it away from him and points it at Mrs. Bennet. So Matt draws his gun and after a lot of yelling and thought yelling Matt shoots Claire, so no one will die. Matt and Mr. Bennet take Claire upstairs where she can regenerate in secret. She spits up the bullet and Mr. Bennet tells Claire to stay there. Matt and Mr. Bennet go back downstairs after quasi forming an alliance to keep Ted from exploding. They head off to the Paper Company to get some files to find out the truth.

At the Paper company Mr. Bennet gets a tranq for Ted, and signals the Haitian. Mr. Bennet attacks him in the hall for not wiping Claire's memory, and the Haitian responds in a cryptic way that his orders came from a higher place than Mr. Bennet's.

Back at the house Ted plays with his balls of fire, preparing to nuke the house, when Mr. Muggles makes a noise upstairs and Ted goes to investigate, and Claire sneaks in to free her mom and brother, and after they get loose the brother being the smart one runs out and Ted comes back downstairs to grab Claire and burns her neck. Only for her to heal in front of her mom. Who for whatever reason didn't run away, it must have been the big bruise on her brain. Ted then ties back up Claire and her Mom. Mr. Bennet and Matt come back as Ted was actually starting to think, and realizing they are plotting against him. They dissolve the situation by giving Ted his file, and Mr. Bennet saying that if Organization XIII found out they'd kill him, so let his family go. He also explains that they didn't make him this way, and there is no cure. The Haitian comes in to free Claire and her mom. The three of them run outside as Eric Roberts comes in and shoots. I'm not sure what he was aiming at but he hits Ted in the shoulder. This pisses Ted off and they won't like him when he's angry. Ted looses control and starts burning everything in the house. Everyone ends up running out and Claire runs in to put the tranq in Ted. There is a really bright light and Claire comes out of the house all kinds of burnt up and smoke covered. Unfortunately Eric Roberts is still outside the house when she emerges. The inside of the Bennet household is all burnt up, but I don't think it will matter, because of what happens next.

Back at the Paper Company Mr. Bennet puts the blame on The Haitian about Claire, and Eric Roberts doesn't really believe him but doesn't let on to it. They go to Sylar's old cell and we see Ted unconscious and strapped down. Eric Roberts says that after they are finished testing him some more they'll kill him. What does that mean for the exploding man situation. If Peter is supposed to explode it makes it seem like he would have to run into Ted. But maybe since Peter was training with Claude it changed the future, making him not go to the middle of the desert and run into Ted. I don't know. Mr. Bennet and Eric Roberts then stop by to check in on Matt, who is also sedated and on a table. Mr. Bennet suggests that Matt would make a good partner, and he would keep everyone honest. He also says that the woman in the room is going to help clean up the mess that Mr. Bennet made. Then asks when they are going to get Claire, and Mr. Bennet says he'll go get her.

Except Mr. Bennet, Claire and the Haitian go for a little car ride, to the same bridge where Claude disappeared. Claire and Mr. Bennet have a tearful goodbye and the Haitian shoots Mr. Bennet in a place that won't kill him, then wipes his mind of Claire, so Eric Roberts won't be able to find her. To be continued....

So Mr. Bennet now is on the lamb, the only way he can be, without any memory of Claire, and possibly of Organization XIII. Claire and the Haitian might run off together. I bet they both go to New York to find Peter, or end up splitting up along the way so they will be harder to find. What will happen to Matt and Ted? Will Mr. Bennet, Claire and the Haitian be able to stay away from Organization XIII's grasp? What will happen with Mrs. Bennet and Lyle? Will they remember any of this, or did the Haitian wipe their minds already? Oh so much excitement! Until tomorrow for the last episode of Veronica Mars before it's short hiatus,

Namaste

My First "I'm Back" Email

From Maikutlo Aka - My Views

I was cleaning today and found this old email which I sent out to a group of friends & family when I first got back from SA over six years ago... being away from SA for a year and a half now, it was a good feeling to re-remember when I first "fell in love".
