Annual Inter-Tribal Pow Wow

When: Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: Lake Shawnee, Topeka

Description: This is the 18th annual Inter-Tribal Pow Wow. Come out during your Labor Day to expand your understanding and appreciation of Native American Indian history, culture, lore and art.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: (Subject to Change)
Friday (grounds open to public at 3:00 PM):
9:00 am – Blessing of the Grounds (no public)
4:00-5:00 pm – Dinner (staff,vendors,singers,dancers only)
5:00-7:00 pm – Gourd Dancing
7:00-10:00 pm – Grand Entry & Social Dancing
Saturday & Sunday (grounds open to public at 10:00 AM):
11:00-12:00 pm Lunch (staff,vendors,singers,dancers only)
12:00-1:30 pm – Gourd Dancing
1:30-4:30 pm – Grand Entry & Social Dancing
4:30-5:30 pm – Dinner (staff,vendors,singers,dancers only)
5:30-7:00 pm – Gourd Dancing
7:00-10:00 pm – Grand Entry & Social Dancing


Sunday:
9:00 am – Church Service at the Pow Wow Grounds

POW WOW BUTTONS: We ask all persons 12 years of age and
older to purchase a Pow Wow button. Funds generated by button
sales allow us to honor all registered singers, dancers, MCs, arena
directors, etc. Any remaining funds are used for Allied Tribes
projects such as cultural education and next years Pow Wow.
Buttons purchased in advance are $6.00 each and $8.00 each at the
gate. The buttons are good for all three days of the Pow Wow.

GOOD IDEAS: Dress for the weather – caps, hats, sun glasses,
umbrellas, and sun screen. Bring a lawn chair, we have limited
bleacher seating. Remember, this is Kansas and we usually have a
