'Real Name' and 'Anonymous' users
Why are some usernames followed by a full name, and others say 'anonymous'?
If you see a user comment on this site with a full name next to it, it means that that person has chosen to increase his or her commenting credibility by providing us with their full name, zip code, birth year and gender. It further means that we have called the user to verify their information using the same process that would be used to verify a letter to the editor for a newspaper.
We've termed those users "Real Name" users.
People who haven't verified their identities with 49abcnews.com appear as "anonymous" next to their usernames. Those users have provided a valid e-mail address to create a user account, but we don't know anything beyond that. You can keep that in mind when considering their comments .
