Police arrest one man accused of assaulting two Topeka men

Authorities are still searching for several suspects

Topeka Police arrested one man Wednesday evening in connection with a Saturday assault that sent a 21-year-old to the hospital. A 33-year-old Topeka man was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a charge of aggravated battery.

The suspect was identified after being taken to the hospital Saturday morning. The 21-year-old Topeka man's condition has since stabilized.

Police were called to a convenience store at 2619 SW 21st St. at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday to an assault in-progress. When Police arrived, two males reported they had been physically assaulted in the parking lot by several other males who had just left area in a vehicle. The two males refused AMR at the time of the report.

Police are continuing to investigate and are looking for the two other suspects in this case, described as black males in their late 20s. Police also ask that anyone who may have information, to please call detectives at 368-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
