Sex offender info available on cell phones

Beginning Tuesday, you can get a map of the sex offenders living in your neighborhood on your cell phone.

Familywatchdog.us's software was scheduled to launch Monday, but it nearly crashed the Web site's server.

The new software will be able to map out the locations of sex offenders in your area free of charge.

You can already get alerts on your mobile phone from the Web site.

Mapping is just one more tool the Web site uses to keep citizens informed about sex offenders and where they live.

"Having this information really allows us to make the decision who to allow near our children and who not to," Steve Roddel of familywatchdog.us said.

The mobile mapping alerts are expected to go online by noon Tuesday.
