Anti-Phelps concert convenes in Topeka

It's a rock festival with a twist. Biteboy is back in Topeka for the second year in a row in protest of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Indie Rock band Biteboy is in Topeka right now preparing for a festival that will protest the protesters. The festival starts today and will end Sunday.

Biteboy is getting ready for its performance this afternoon at the Phelps Phestival, a concert protesting the Westboro Baptist Church led by the Rev. Fred Phelps.

  • Where: Lessman Pharm and Truckhenge, 4124 NE Brier Road., Topeka
  • Cost: Free
  • Age limit: All ages

This year they have a bigger venue in rural Topeka and a lot more bands have signed on to protest the organization that pickets military funerals across the country.

Phestival organizers say there are still some open slots for group and solo acts.

Driving directions

The Phelps Phestival is at Truckhenge in the northeast corner of Topeka on the Kaw River. Take I-70 to 1st Topeka exit to Highway K4 (RR4) east to Seward Avenue exit to Kincaid about 1.2 miles.
