Annual President's Dinner fails to live up to last year's numbers

He called it a quote "unqualified success" and predicted his party will retake Congress and hold the White House in 2008.
He also criticized the Democrats' budget, saying it will definitely increase taxes.
"If you look at the budget carefully that the Democrats propose, they want to return to the days of spending a lot and taxing you to make sure that they can do so," Bush said.
Last year's event raised $27 million. This year's raised only $15.4 million.
Despite the $12 million drop in contributions, the dinner's chairman said he was pleased with the success.
