Manhattan Parade of Homes features 36 houses in five cities

The Manhattan Area Builders Association is having their 29th annual Parade of Homes. It just happens to be the largest one to date. Natasha Trelfa visited with Tammy Fisher to find out what the parade was all about this year.

The parade features 36 houses in five cities. Those cities include Junction City, Manhattan, St. George, Wamego and Paxico. There are a variety of different homes shown this year. They range from small, starter homes to high-end market homes.

"There are more styles and more types. I've noticed that people are wanting to do more town homes because they don't want to have the yard," Fisher said. "They don't want to have to go out and work all weekend on their yard. They want a town home where everything is taken care of for them."

Fisher has noticed that people are looking for different ways to design the inside of their home as well. People are tending to choose more modern styles rather than more traditional.

"You have a wide variety of changes inside the home. More open floor plans, granite counter-tops, and tile where everything used to be carpet. Now everything's more colorful and a lot nicer," Fisher said.

Most of the homes have either the builder or a realtor or both in the homes. If you decide that it is your dream home, you can make an offer on the spot. You also have the opportunity to talk to the builder if you do not find that perfect home. You can let the builder know the specifics on what you would like to see in your future home.

For more information visit the Manhattan Area Builders Association online. On the Web site you can search homes by specifics like location, number of bedrooms, price, etc.
