Ted Kennedy breaks out into song on Latino radio program
11:17 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007
You've heard him speak in that cultivated, Kennedy way, but wait till you hear Ted Kennedy's "Spanish serenade".
Eduardo Sotelo is the star of America's top rated morning radio show geared toward the huge Latino audience.
Kennedy was a guest on the popular morning show. After a glowing intro by Sotelo, the senator broke into song celebrating the Mexican state that's home to the city of Guadalajara.
"Jalisco, Jalisco, Jalisco, you have your girlfriend Guadalajara," Kennedy sang.
With that performance, Kennedy joined the ranks of singing politicos like former Attorney General John Ashcroft.
Kennedy's performance didn't quite reach the seared-into-your-memory forever status of Karl Rove's. But at least he knew the words in Spanish.
Of course, if singing is done in the name of comedy, Senator John McCain sings Barbara Streisand.
"For over 20 years I've had Barbara Streisand try my job so I've decided to try her job," McCain said.
At least Kennedy confined himself to the radio so he was heard, but not seen.
