Two new laws need to pass Supreme Court scrutiny

The law to expand gambling in Kansas has been passed and signed into law, but it will still be a while before it goes into effect.

Attorney General Paul Morrison says he's working on getting the bill's constitutionality approved by the Kansas Supreme Court, but says it could take up to a year.

The Funeral Picketing Act also requires the Supreme Court's approval, but Morrison says that one is moving much more quickly and he will likely file an action to test the law by the end of the month, possibly even this week.
