City gives Topeka property owner deadline to remove junked boat

The plight of residents a Northeast Topeka area continues. Edward Hines, a resident in the area near Chandler and Vine, realizes this every time he looks outside at the junk that's been disposed near his home.
It's a sea of trees, weeds and trash out there.
When Hines looks down the road, he sees over-grown vegetation and worse, beer bottles and trash scattered about.
The people who used this property as their trash can don't seem to notice the "no dumping" sign, and with good reason. The sign is covered by overgrown bushes. It's not exactly helpful in deterring people from dropping off junk off, big or small. And, it's one big item that's really making waves with neighbors.
A boat was dumped there. Now, the city has cited the property owner and is giving them until June 14 to get it out of there.
Tune in tonight for 49 News at 10 when we'll show why city officials say dumping trash is becoming a major issue in Topeka.
