Thousands of Kansas patients could get better care with "yes" vote

Clay County Medical Center is part of an unusual contest with a big payoff

This video requires the free QuickTime plug-in.

It's in a small town, but Clay County Medical Center serves 12,000 to 15,000 patients. It’s often a challenge because they don't have an MRI unit.

Now Clay County has the chance to get an $800,000 MRI unit for free. But they need your help.

The Clay County Medical Center is competing with 52 other hospitals across the U.S.

The staff made a video called “Granny gets an MRI.” It's using the video to compete against other video competitors for that free MRI.

If you watch the video you’ll see “granny” has many obstacles in the old-fashioned style video.

They hope this comical video will show on-line voters that they are in serious need of updated equipment.

Help CCMC win an MRI Unit

We’ve made it easy for you to vote for Clay County Medical Center to win an MRI. Log onto www.winanmri.com and look for the "Granny Gets an MRI" video, or link to the hospital's Web site, www.ccmcks.org and you can voter there, as well.

And this video is gaining in popularity.

They are currently in third place behind medical centers in New York and Georgia.

MRI's detect problems in the brain, abdomen and joints.

Clay County shares a mobile MRI unit that comes to town just three days a week. But if a patient needs immediate care, they must travel more than 35 miles for treatment. That's especially tough on older patients who can't get around or can't get a ride.

You can only vote once a day but the hospital said one vote can help Clay County doctors save lives in the community.

Sabetha Community Hospital is also in the contest, but Clay County Medical Center has far more votes.

Voting ends December 31.

ARE YOU AWARE THAT THERE ARE OTHER KANSAS COMMUNITIES TRYING TO GET THE SAME MRI? SABETHA IS ONE OF THEM. ARE YOU GOING TO ALSO GIVE SABETHA THE SAME TIME AND EXPOSURE THAT YOU ARE GIVING TO TO CLAY CENTER ?
