New online site lists businesses that employ legal workers

"People say we're a nation of immigrants. We'll you know what? We're a nation of laws," said David Marlett, executive director of Pro-America Companies.

It's abiding by those laws, making sure companies hire legally documented workers, that prompted David Marlett to start this on-line company www.proamericacompanies.com.

"We're saying...what's good for America," Marlett said.

Marlett started Pro-America in May. The site is a database of more than 500 companies in 43 states that only hire legally documented workers. Illegal immigrants need not apply.

"What laws are we going to respect? Where are we going to draw the line? Who's doing it right and who's following the law?" Marlett said.

Marlett's quest is to help boost companies following the rules and help people living in the U.S. legally find more work.

"What happened to right and wrong," Marlett asked.

But he says, it's not about closing the doors on the borders.

"Those legal immigrants, the millions who have been standing in line for years to get into this country to do it right, hats off to them," he said.

Instead, it's about giving a chance to those who've waited their turn.

Marlett was a guest on September 20th's 49 News at Eleven. See that interview here.
