Gunman shoots man, takes his car

Topeka Police need your help after a man was shot early this morning.

Officers arrived at 19th and Pennsylvania where they found a man in his early 20s bleeding from gunshot wounds. He was later taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man told police his car was stolen after he was shot, said Topeka Police Capt. Darin Scott.

"We working the scene up simply because it is a crime scene of this nature, and we want to make sure we work diligently, we preserve the evidence and that we get the people responsible -- if there are malfeasance here -- get them convicted," Scott said.

Police are on the lookout for a four door purple-colored 1999 Chevrolet Malibu, with Kansas Plates 131ANE. If you have seen this car or know anything about this crime, call Crime stoppers at (785) 234-0007 .
