Mother charged for death of 11-year-old child

The district attorney has pressed charges against Michelle L. Dodds, of Topeka, in a car accident that took the life of her 11-year-old daughter.

Dodds was charged with involuntary manslaughter while driving under the influence August 28 in Shawnee County District Court. She was also charged for driving too fast for the weather conditions and a registration violation.

The accident occurred at 1525 NW Lyman May 18. The child, Cheyenne Morrissey, 11, of Topeka, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the car rolled several times. Dodds was not badly hurt.

She is currently out on bond.
