Jury finds for KU in Joe-College lawsuit

A federal jury Monday ordered Joe College.com to pay $127,000 for t-shirts that infringe on University of Kansas' trademark.
The decision was less than what KU wanted.
Jim Tilly, an attorney representing Joe College.com owner Larry Sinks said, "we're very pleased with the jury's verdict."
KU had sought more than $500,000, claiming that 206 of Sinks' shirts infringed on the school's trademark or tarnished KU's image.
The jury determined approximately 50 of the shirts infringed and ordered Sinks to pay $119,087 in profits and $8,250 in royalties to KU.
Tilly said the decision means Sinks will stay in business. He said the t-shirts that jury found to be infringing will be removed from shelves.
