"Batman: Gotham Knight" DVD offers fantastic ride through superhero's past

Six interlocking short stories from six different directors are contained in the latest DVD release, "Batman: Gotham Knight."

The DVD highlights the early years of Batman. It brings back the voice of Kevin Conroy, who did the voice of the superhero in the original animated Batman series.

"I think the animation is terrific. I like the stories," Film Critic Van Sickle said. "I think this is a perfect companion piece to keep people satisfied for a couple of weeks before the big release of "Dark Knight."

This release comes as "Dark Knight," the newest Batman installation, is released in theaters this week.

"Batman: Gotham Knight" comes in a two-disc set, which features extras including a documentary on the creator of the character Bob Kane and four episodes of "Batman," the animated series.

Van Sickle encourages any fan of the superhero to buy the DVD and says anyone would enjoy watching it, except for the very young. The movie is PG-13.
