State making effort to cut waste, increase efficiency

Tonight, we have a follow up to a 49 News investigation on wasteful state spending.
Last January, we showed you how the state had been wasting your tax money, spending $60,000 a year on unneeded budget books and phone books, and $26,000 on gold embossed letterhead.
Back then, Lieutenant Governor Mark Parkinson said the state was cutting back on waste and becoming more energy efficient.
Today, we went back to Parkinson to find out what progress is being made.
"We have a program where we've sent consultants through almost every state building to make suggestions as to how we can renovate to make those buildings energy efficient," Parkinson said.
Parkinson says that's saving Kansas about $8 million a year.
