The Locker Room Show: The fight for state bragging rights

We tip it off with Hayden on its quest for a title, going against #3 seed Hesston. And the Wildcats punch their ticket to play for a state title by winning 63-52.

To the earlier game, Holton was trying to drum up an upset over top seeded Colby, and they succeeded by knocking off undefeated Colby 44-41.

So the 4A championship games look like this. On the boys' side, Hayden is going for the first state title for the first time in 15 years. They'll face Girard. The Trojans beat Andover 64-61. And on the girls' side, it's the Holton Wildcats and Andover Central. The Jaguars beat Abilene 68-47.

To 5A, Ken Darting and his Scots took on Saint Thomas Aquinas. The Saints upset Bishop Miege in the sub-state championships. And the Scots are headed back to the 5A state title game, 51-34.

As for who they'll play, that was to be determined in the late game at the Expocentre. Emporia fell to Bishop Carroll, 69-62. The Spartans finish the season 14 and 10.

On the girls side, Robert Wells and his T-Birds took on top-seeded McPherson. This one was all McPherson as the Bullpups roll, 49-29. The T-bird season ends with a final record of 17-and-7.

And 5A shakes down like this. High Park will try for their second straight title and meeting them in the championship game will be Bishop Carroll.

And on the ladies side of things McPherson will take on Bishop Carroll. The Golden Eagles beat Bishop Miege 54-41.

One seed Nemaha Valley defeated Holcomb 54-51.

As for who they'll play, Northern Heights and Trinity Academy were on the other side of the bracket. It was all Knights, 47-28.

Riley County was all over Cherryvale, 55-36.

And the 3-A bracket looks like this. Nemaha Valley will meet Trinity in the championship round, which starts at 6:15. As for the ladies, Riley County keeps their undefeated streak alive and will face Cimarron in the title game.

To 2A now 4th seeded St. Marys took on top dog Berean Academy. And Berean Academy wins, 59-36. Saint Marys will have to settle for the third place game as Berean moves on to do battle St. John for a state title.
