Topeka Civic Theatre production to offer behind-the-scenes experience

Kids invited to sign up for TCTA Summer Camp

"We've got things going on this spring and summer that's just out of control," Topeka Civic Theater and Academy Artistic Director Shannon Reilly said.

TCTA is currently running "Urinetown," a musical. It's set in the mythological future where water was scarce. So, people have to pay for restrooms. Reilly said this play is funny and campy.

"You got to see it. It's unlike any musical I've ever seen before," Reilly said.

"Noises Off" runs May 23 and 24. The plot is putting on a play. The challenges the cast come across are humorous and over-the-top.

"In the course of the play everything goes wrong," he said. "In the second act, we actually spin the entire set around, so you can see what's happening backstage while you are watching the show."

TCTA is also announcing openings for summer camp for 4 to 6 year olds.

"A lot of kids spend their summer sitting on their couch, watching television," Reilly said. "So, give them a gift that they can enjoy for the rest of the summer, enjoy for the rest of their life."

Camps for kids 7 and older are also available. They can be found at TopekaCivicTheatre.com.
