Emporia State teams on the diamond

The Emporia State baseball team has had an amazing season thus far. The season has featured a thirty-five game winning streak, an MIAA regular season title and a number four ranking in the nation.

What accolades get you is a number one seed and the host school for the NCAA Division Two regional tournament.

But first they would have to get pass sixth-seeded Concordia-Saint Paul in round number one. Pick it up in the bottom of the fourth with Tyler Appelhans on the mound for the Hornets. He had it working all night. All knotted at zero in the top of the sixth, .Jake Waldman lines to the second baseman, who finds it a little too hot to handle.Derek Mason comes in to score from third, making it 1-0 Golden Bears. Appelhans, still working tough, strikes out another Golden Bear. And the Hornets would sting the Golden Bears in this one. They win it 3-2.

In softball, Emporia State is down in Houston fighting for a national title and Thursday night their road got a little tough as the Lady Hornets got shut out by Humbolt State, 3-0. ESU is not eliminated for the tourney just yet. They will enter the losers' bracket and will play in the morning against Francis Marion.
