Rama Donepudi and Rajini Dasaraju wanted to bring India to Topeka.
"Most of us have been part of this community for over 20 years," said Rama. "I came up with India Fest, which was picked up by my friends right away."
This pioneer started India Fest in 2003 sharing her exotic culture, supporting charities and teaching many about the Indian cuisine, fashion, music and the Mendi or the art of Henna painting.
India Fest 2008 will take place from 10 to 3 Sunday, September 7 at Big Gage Park Shelter House. Tickets are $2 a person. Children 6 and under are free.
