"Boston Legal" season 4 has a lot to like, the DVD not so much

Season 4 of "Boston Legal" was released on DVD the day after the fifth and final season aired on ABC.

For those who haven't been following, Candice Bergen plays Shirley Schmidt, William Shatner plays Denny Crane and James Spader plays Alan Shore in this funny story of the trials and tribulations of a litigation team from the fictional firm of Crane Poole & Schmidt.

"It's a fun escapism, and there's nothing wrong with that at all," Film Critic Keith Van Sickle said.

The "Boston Legal" fan might find the DVD of season 4 disappointing, he said.

"Very few extras. Just only one featurette. There's no talk-overs," Van Sickle said. "I thought it would be great to have voice-over comments by Shatner and James Spader and David E. Kelley."

Kelley is the mastermind of "Boston Legal." Kelley has won an Emmy and Golden Globe for producing "The Practice," from which some of the "Boston Legal" cast came.

Van Sickle recommends purchasing the DVD for big fans, and renting it or tuning in to the new season for those who are just interested.

You can see Van Sickle's DVD and movie reviews every Tuesday and Friday during Good Morning Kansas' 6 a.m. hour.
