Photojournalist Justin Schmidt captures Fort Riley officers meeting with “dignitaries” at an “Iraqi village.” Several mock Iraqi villages have been constructed on Ft. Irwin, and role-players are hired to portray villagers. Part of the training includes interacting with these villagers, to prepare soldiers for winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqi citizenry during their deployment.
