Ike Walker

News Director

Ike Walker is the News Director for KTKA Channel 49 in Topeka. Ike’s love for broadcasting began at an early age when he would sit at his father’s console radio and try to tune in radio stations from across the world. He began his career in broadcast in the early '90s as an intern and then as Associate Producer at the CBS affiliate in Tulsa, Okla. During that time Ike covered the 1995 bombing at the Murrah federal building, the PGA championship and countless other stories.

In 1995, Ike became the Executive Producer of a local, late night, call-in talk show. The show was a return to the Golden Age of Television, complete with a live audience and a three-piece band in the studio each night.

In 1997, Ike moved to the NBC affiliate in Tulsa where he served as Executive Producer and worked to launch and reformat many shows including a non-traditional 6 p.m., as well as a local entertainment show called Tulsapalooza.

Two years later Ike moved in the post-production business serving as the Director of Production for a studio in Tulsa. He later opened his own studio before deciding to get back into news.

In 2004, Ike moved to Savannah, Ga., to work at the NBC affiliate as the Executive Producer. After spending three years on the East Coast, Ike is happy to be back in the Midwest and continuing to pursue his career in Topeka.

Ike is the happily married father of three beautiful boys and a darling little girl. He enjoys spending time with his family as well as working around the house.
