Jesse Fray
KTKA Reporter, December 2005 - March 2008
Jesse is the 49 News crime and safety reporter. He joined the 49 News team in December of 2005.
Jesse grew up in Wichita, Kan., where he earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Wichita State University.
He began his news career in college as an assignment editor at KAKE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Wichita. He also worked as a news anchor for KNSS Radio, broadcasting to listeners across Kansas.
During his time in Wichita, Jesse helped with coverage of the reemergence, arrest and trials of the BTK murders. Jesse was covering the infamous Dennis Rader when he sent letters to KAKE-TV, connecting Rader to the 10 murders he later admitted committing more than three decades earlier.
Jesse also works part-time as a reporter at the Lawrence Journal-World, the daily newspaper in Lawrence, Kan., owned and operated by our parent company, The World Company.
Jesse truly enjoys meeting, working with and getting to know the people of Northeast Kansas and strives to make a positive difference in the community.
His appreciation for journalism developed in elementary school, when he published a weekly newspaper for his neighbors.
In his spare time, Jesse enjoys hanging out with friends and traveling.
