Lisa Coble-Krings
KTKA Web editor, November 2005 - November 2008
Before coming to 49 News, Lisa worked at the University of Kansas as a graduate research assistant on a project that aims to bridge the gap between journalists and communities. Lisa graduated in December with her master’s degree in journalism. At KU, Lisa was a copy editor, science writer and producer at the campus newspaper.
Before coming to KU, Lisa was the cops and courts reporter at the Hastings Tribune, a small daily newspaper in Hastings, Neb. Lisa worked briefly in public relations for Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She also was the editor of the campus newspaper.
Lisa grew up in a town of 1,073 in northeast Nebraska. It was in Tilden where Lisa learned the importance of community spirit and togetherness. Lisa is reminded of her hometown each time she travels to a small Kansas town, where she finds a similar brand of kindness and hospitality.
Currently, Lisa lives in Lawrence with her husband. They share a common love for music, especially early country, blues, ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll – anything on the Sun label is great – and rockabilly. Among her other hobbies are photography, board games, reading and traveling.
