Matt Miller

Chief Meteorologist

NEW! Check out Matt's video bio here.

Matt Miller is the chief meteorologist for 49 Storm Team.

Matt is a native of the Midwest and is glad to be in Kansas covering some of the most active weather in the country. He comes to 49 ABC from WATE-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he spent three years forecasting and teaching at the University of Tennessee and even wrote a book on local weather. Before Knoxville, Matt spent three years in Lubbock, Texas, at KAMC/KLBK.

Matt graduated from Oklahoma Christian University with a degree in mathematics and from the University of Oklahoma with a master’s degree in meteorology. He loves to use his education and training to teach others about weather. He enjoys visiting schools, teaching courses and training just about anyone about how the weather works.

His love of weather began as a child while taking shelter from tornadoes and running to the window to see how much snow fell overnight. By the second grade, Matt had decided to be a meteorologist and planned his entire education around that decision.

Matt and his family reside in Topeka. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Mindi. They have two children, Logan and Kylie. Matt is thrilled to be involved in such a warm, inviting community.
