Showers aid in summer steam!
Saturday's clouds and showers actually worsened humidity levels by adding more moisture to an already humid airmass. With high soil-moisture content, a plentiful watershed, growing crops, and south winds from the Gulf of Mexico, this week will be the steamiest of the year!
Tonight: Swampy. An isolated storm possible near the Kansas-Nebraska boarder. Lows around 71 F. Light south winds.
With sunny skies tomorrow, expect temperatures to really climb. The amount of moisture in the air may help to keep temperatures from spiking too far above the 90-95 degree range. Still, with the humidity it will feel a lot worse than that.
Sunday: A sauna. Highs near 93 F. Heat index values as high as 100 F. South winds at 10-15 mph.
Sunday night: Little help. Lows around 74 F. Light winds.
On Monday, a cool front will slide southeast; closer to Northeast Kansas. Moisture will pool along the front. Expect Monday to be another terribly humid day, with highs well into the 90's. The front should be sufficient enough to lift the tropical airmass into thunderstorms later Monday night and Tuesday. Behind the front, expect little to no reprieve in the heat and humidity department through next weekend.
